'Frayed' is a 1.35 mtr long bird /angel wing,
Frayed is a piece where both decayed and fresh feathers become one wing. Each individually stitched & shaped feather appears fragile, some almost decayed but by layering them, it gives a feel of strength, a togetherness. They stay very light and delicate, so the feathers and the loose hanging threads create movement when walking past, keeping the subject alive.
A single wing symbolizes protection, safety and security, a way for people to connect and look after each other.
